01 — The Place

A place between worlds

Oxapampa emerges at the singular threshold where dramatic Andean slopes yield to the lush expanse of Amazonian cloud forests. Cool mountain breezes harmonize with warm tropical moisture, fostering an extraordinary biosphere.

Beyond its stunning physical landscapes lies a distinctive cultural territory shaped by indigenous heritage and deep ecological connection to the surrounding living forests.

02 — The Austro-German Colony

A place between worlds

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, new waves of migration also reached the Selva Central. Among them were families of Austro-German origin, who settled in places such as Pozuzo, Oxapampa and Villa Rica. They arrived in a very different landscape from the one they had known in Europe. Over time, they built homes, communities and new livelihoods, while becoming part of the complex cultural history of the region.

Today, you can see traces of these encounters everywhere: in architecture, food, traditions, agriculture and the ways different communities have shaped life in the valley.
